New Dodge Charger trim levels
The latest edition of the Dodge Charger comes in five trims:
- SXT
- GT
- R/T
- Scat Pack
- Scat Pack Widebody
The latest Dodge Charger R/T trim has a 5.7-liter V8 that's capable of creating 370 horsepower while giving drivers around Harrisburg and Mechanicsburg, PA a nice mix of features and power. The Scat Pack level would give you a 485-horsepower V8 with the kind of acceleration you buy a Dodge Charger for. It also gives you a booming dual-mode exhaust and a leather-wrapped performance steering wheel.
Engines and performance
If you like the Dodge Charger's NASCAR history and its big, rowdy V8 power, get one with the HEMI® V8 that knows how to flex its muscles. The V8 comes with standard rear-wheel drive to get you off to a rip-roaring start. The V6 power plant can come with all-wheel drive for outstanding traction when you need it. If you want all-out speed, the Charger R/T Scat Pack with 485 horsepower can do zero-to-60 in an amazing 3.8 seconds.
Fuel economy
While the new Dodge Charger isn't trying to break records for squeezing more from a gallon of gas, it can do better than you might expect. Car & Driver tested the big 5.7-liter V8 and found it could deliver up to 25 mpg on its 75-mph test track. If you take the short 20-minute drive on US-22 West from Harrisburg to our dealership in Duncannon, PA, you might head home in a new Dodge Charger V6 that gets 26 mpg on the highway.
Interior
The new Dodge Charger provides plenty of legroom in the rear seat. It also provides a good amount of room in the trunk. The center console has good places to store smaller items and there's a slot next to the shifter that's just the right size to keep your smartphone.
The exterior
The newest Dodge Charger has a sleek silhouette that conveys this is a sedan that's all about going really fast. The speed message is reinforced by the Dodge Charger's lightweight carbon black 20x11-inch aluminum wheels. The widebody fender suggests that slower vehicles around Mechanicsburg or Newport, PA might want to move quickly to the side. The menacing front grill tells everyone that this sedan is definitely in charge.
Interior technology
The new Dodge Charger has a standard 7-inch touchscreen and an available 8.4-inch screen. A six-speaker stereo comes standard but when you're going this fast, you want a sound system that lets everybody know you're coming. For that, upgrade to the available 19-speaker Harman Kardon stereo and please try to observe all applicable local sound limits. Or something like that.
